CIVIC THURSDAY CLUB MEETING - Speaker Ching-Hua Wang, President of Samuel Merritt University

Dr. Ching-Hua Wang, the president of Samuel Merritt University -- appointed in Nov. 2018. She is the first female native Chinese university president in the U.S. Samuel Merritt doesn't get much press, but it produces a lot of nurses and other health practitioners in the area. Of all the educational institutions in the bay area (including Stanford), its graduates have the highest average starting salaries. And Dr. Wang has an interesting back story -- as a teenager, she was caught up in the Chinese Cultural Revolution and was removed from school and sent to work in the fields.
